Chicken curry recipe

Today we will make a very mouthwatering recipe that is Chicken curry recipe.

Chicken curry recipe:
Cooking time : 40 minutes 
Servings : 4-6 persons
Utensils used:
    1 pot 
    1 frypan
    1 ladle
    1 teaspoon 
    1 tablespoon 

Ingredients:
  1. Chicken : 1 kg
  2. Refined oil : 2 ladles 
  3. Curd : 2 ladles or 1/2 bowl 
  4. Lemon : 1 medium size 
  5. Big cardamom: 1
  6. Green cardamom: 2
  7. Clove : 2
  8. Indian bay leaf (Tej patta) : 1 
  9. Asafetida (Hing) : 1 pinch
  10. Cumin seeds : 1/2 tablespoon 
  11. Cumin seeds powder (optional) : 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Garlic : 6-8 pieces finely chopped or paste 
  13. Ginger : 1 tablespoon finely chopped or paste 
  14. Onion : 2 medium size finely chopped or paste 
  15. Coriander powder: 1 tablespoon
  16. Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon 
  17. Red chilli powder: 1/2 tablespoon 
  18. Black pepper powder: 1/2 teaspoon 
  19. Green chilli: 4 finely chopped 
  20. Tomatoes : 2 medium size finely chopped or paste or puree
  21. Salt : according to your taste 
  22. Chicken masala powder or garam masala powder : 1/2 tablespoon 
  23. Fresh coriander: 1 tablespoon finely chopped 
  24. Water : 1 litre 
Pre-preparation : 
  • Firstly , we will do  Marination to  the chicken pieces. Take 2 ladles of curd and whisk it for 2 minutes. Add salt to taste, 1/4 tablespoon red chilli powder, 1/4 tablespoon chicken masala powder or garam masala powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds powder, 1/2 tablespoon coriander powder , squeeze 1/2 lemon  without seeds, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder. Mix this mixture and paste this on chicken pieces thoroughly. Keep this pasted chicken pieces at cold place or refrigerator for 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Procedure: 
  • Now, we will make masala , put frypan on gas and pour  2 ladles refined oil into it. When oil becomes hot, put 1 big cardamom, 2 green cardamoms, 1 tej patta, 1/2 tablespoon cumin seeds , 6-8 finely chopped pieces of garlic or paste, 1 tablespoon of finely chopped ginger or paste, 2 finely chopped onions or paste. Saute for 5 minutes and cover lid for 3 minutes at low flame. When onions become translucent,  add 1/2 tablespoon coriander powder,  1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder and  1/4 tablespoon red chilli powder . After 1 minute, add 2 finely chopped tomatoes or paste and add salt.  Saute for 5 minutes and then cover the lid and cook for 5 minutes at low flame.
  • When oil gets separated from masala , then add marinated chicken pieces to it.Add black pepper powder and 2 finely chopped green chillies. Saute for 15 minutes. In between , keep  checking after 2 - 3 minutes if chicken masala not get sticky or dry.If it gets sticky or dry, then add 1-2 tablespoons of water after 2-3 minutes. 
  • When chicken become soft add 2 slices of lemon and add 750 ml of water if you want diluted gravy otherwise add only 500 ml  of water if you want thick gravy. Keep cooking on full flame for 10 minutes.After that cover the lid for 10 minutes at low flame. Chicken masala recipe is properly cooked. Add 1/4 tablespoon of chicken masala powder or garam masala powder. Add 2 finely chopped green chillies and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of finely chopped fresh coriander. Finally, chicken masala recipe is ready to serve.
